Eugene Hartwig

Eugene R. “Gene” Hartwig, 64, rural Boscobel, formerly Harvard, passed away on Thursday July 12, 2012, at his home in Boscobel. He was born on April 27, 1948, in Harvard to James and Dorothy (Sauers) Hartwig. He married Eileen Deneen on January 14, 1967, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Harvard. He co-owned and operated Hartwig Plumbing in Harvard for several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tim (Jamie) Hartwig, DeKalb, and Edward “Ted” (Heather) Hartwig, Sharon Wisc.; six grandchildren; two brothers James (Debra) Hartwig of Green Valley, Az., and William (Rayel) Hartwig, Harvard. A visitation was held July 30 at Saunders and McFarlin Funeral Home. A memorial service was held July 31 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, The Rev. Daniel Peters officiated. Inurnment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Blue River Rescue Squad, Blue River, Wisc. Arrangements were handled by Saunders and McFarlin Funeral Home.
