Coach’s thoughts on:

Strengths — “The number of wrestlers we have out this year. Out of our potential starting lineup, 99% were involved in the offseason programs. We did a lot of wrestling in the spring and summer in open tournaments and team camps.”

Weaknesses — “We have some guys bunched up in weight classes so it will take a while to thin it out.”

This season — “We want to try and wrestle as many ranked teams as possible. We have Crystal Lake Central, Fox Lake and Grant plus all the Class A schools on our schedule. We will probably wrestle 15-ranked teams this year. We will also wrestle Granite City this year and next [this year at Granite City, next year in Harvard].Granite City has the most wins in state history [approximately 1,100]. Harvard is second with around 900.”

Goals for the team: “Get them into wrestling shape and get them into the right weight, which is going to take awhile. We have 45 kids out this year, so we have a lot of depth. We want to get our younger guys matches on varsity.”
